About us

Who are the Dragon Slayers?

We’re are a bunch of no-hopers from northern England who like to play wargames and attend tournaments for said wargames. We’re a pretty disparate group – our members include policemen, self-proclaimed captains of industry and a goodly number of layabouts – but we’re like-minded in our attitude towards gaming and we’re a very tight-knit community.

Where do you meet?

We meet at Maelstrom Games’ venue in Mansfield. The full address is:

Matlock Mill
Hamilton Way
Mansfield
Nottinghamshire
NG18 5BU

When do you meet?

Every Tuesday at Maelstrom Games, Mansfield, 7pm sharp until around 11pm, but also at most Games Workshop tournaments around the UK or at each other’s houses whenever we feel like a game. We do a load of other stuff outside wargaming too, so if you join you’re likely to get dragged off to nights on the town, curries and all sorts of other shenanigans!

What games do you play?

We have a healthy regular number of gamers playing Warhammer, Warhammer 40k and Hordes and Warmachine. We also dabble in Flames of War and Bloodbowl.

Can anyone join?

Yes, providing they play their games in the Dragon Slayer spirit and attend the club on a regular basis. Wearing the coveted Dragon Slayer shirt brings with it a set of responsibilities not only to the club and clubmates but to other gamers across the country. Bad sports not only reflect badly on themselves they reflect badly on the club. In addition you have to be over 18 (we do a lot of drinking, y’see) and ideally willing to travel to and take part in tournaments all over the country, if not the world. If you think you fit the bill take a look at our joining section.

If you have any questions about the club please leave a reply here and we will get back to you. Alternatively please feel free to pop down to our club night or approach one of us at an event.

    Hi
I am putting together a wargame and hobby magazine, called The Campaigner. You can find out more about it at http://www.thecampaignermagazine.com
Your tournament ‘Warhammer Achievments’ seems perfect for an article. It embodies all the things I am trying to include in the magazine. Playing games, community, hobby and creative solutions to regular problems. I understand Steve Wren would be the best person to talk to about this event. Can you provide a contact email, or have him email me at the magazine?
You can reach me at contact@thecampaignermagazine.com
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Matthew
    Editor, The Campaigner
